There's an outrage in our office. That's right! We're freaking out! Within the last 2-3 weeks, numerous readers have written into us, via email and Twitter, and around 10 employees have come back into the office with the same complaint: Dunkin' Donuts puts too much ice in their iced coffees, specifically, their cold brew. Due to the popularity and oddly distinct nature of the recent complaint, I decided to test the waters a bit, getting a Dunkin' Donuts Cold Brew about once every other day, from various locations, to see what was up. All in all, I'm going to have to agree with our readers, and, unfortunately, even some of our staff at Consider The Consumer; the cup can be upwards of 60%-75% ice. That is far too much ice to be enjoyed. In taking it a step further (I really have too much time on my hands...), I interviewed a few current and past Dunkin' Donuts employees. Out of the eight of them that I got into contact with, 6 told me that they are actually instructed to do so to "preserve the product." Hmm, how come consumers aren't allowed to preserve their bank accounts when ordering then? Something doesn't add up to me here. So, the plan is to not go all Starbucks lawsuit on these people, as that didn't work well in the past anyway, but instead, gather up a bit of a voice to show Dunkin' Donuts that we're serious about this ice problem. If you have had this problem happen to you, reach out to us and let us know!
