Recently, the Lee Litigation Group has filed a lawsuit against
Atkins claiming that their products mislead consumers through deceptive marketing. Specifically, the Atkins Class Action alleges that its food products which have low "net carbs" actually contain the sugar alcohols maltitol and maltitol syrup. Aside from the products containing these ingredients, Atkins' online literature understates the impact of maltitol on a person's blood sugar levels.

It truly is a shame that companies continue to do this to consumers. Though Atkins has helped a lot of people lose weight, if the allegations of this Atkins Class Action Lawsuit hold true, a significant amount of damage could have already been constructed by the diet company. Not only do consumers and customers opt to change their lifestyles with the Atkins name, they normally buy into the brand completely, purchasing numerous products for their name, branding, quality, and the assurance of a low carb, or carb free, product.
The fitness and weight loss industry, on the whole, is filled with scams and schemes to make a quick buck and fold fast.
Consider The Consumer is not saying that Atkins is one of these companies, but with the amount of research the brand must have put into the carbohydrate and its effects, overlooking this ingredient can only be considered negligent. Again, all of these claims rely on whether or not the case will hold up.
